Neutering And Spaying Services in Dubai
Whether you’re a first-time pet parent or have years of experience, one of the first questions you’ll ask is: “Should I neuter my pet?”
The short answer is yes. Dog and cat neutering offers lifelong health benefits and helps improve behaviour, making life easier for both you and your pet.
Right Time to Neuter/Spay:
Neutering your dog or cat shouldn’t be delayed if you want them to enjoy a healthier, longer life. Here’s what we generally recommend:
- Cats and small to medium-sized dogs: Neutering is typically done at 5 to 6 months of age.
- Large breed dogs: It’s best to wait until 12 to 18 months, once they’ve finished growing.
- Female dogs: We usually recommend neutering 8–12 weeks after their first heat, which can occur between 5 and 18 months.
Our vets will always guide you with tailored advice based on your pet’s age, breed, and lifestyle.
FAQS:
Spaying does not negatively change your cat’s personality. In many cases, spayed cats become more affectionate and less anxious, especially once heat cycles are no longer an issue.
Your pet will be under general anesthesia during the procedure and won’t feel anything. After surgery, we provide pain relief to keep them comfortable during recovery.
While you can’t be present during the surgery itself, you’re welcome to stay with your pet before they go into the procedure. After surgery, they’ll be discharged the same day with full recovery instructions.
Yes, pets should fast (no food) for several hours before surgery. Our team will give you exact instructions the day before your appointment.
Delaying neutering may increase the risk of certain health issues like cancers or infections, and may also lead to more intense hormone-related behaviours. Our vets can help you time it right for your pet’s health and lifestyle.
Neutering significantly lowers the risk of several health problems, including mammary tumours, testicular cancer, and uterine infections like pyometra. It also helps prevent certain prostate issues in male pets, supporting a healthier and longer life.
Yes. Spaying and neutering are key to controlling the number of stray animals. By preventing accidental litters, you’re directly helping reduce the number of homeless pets in Dubai’s shelters and streets.
While neutering/ spaying can lead to a decrease in metabolism, weight gain is typically due to overfeeding and lack of exercise. Monitoring diet and ensuring regular activity can prevent obesity.
